EU Common Catalogue
When the vegetable or agricultural variety is included in the national list it is admitted for marketing in the EU. The Board for Plant Varieties will notify the admission of the varieties to the European Union and the other EU Member States, and the variety will be included in the EU-Common catalogue. The Plant variety database of the EU offers a search tool for all the varieties included in the EU Common Catalogue.
If the admission based solely on official trials, the variety will be included in the EU-Common Catalogue as "a" variety, and material of the variety can be marketed as 'standard seed' or 'certified seed'.
If the admission is based on a combination of an official test at Naktuinbouw and a breeders' co-trial, the variety in EU-Common Catalogue will be included as a "b"-variety and material of the variety can be marketed as 'standard seed'.
