New TQ curly kale, kale
Following the changes in classification of various vegetable crops/crop groups and the obligation to register varieties of palm kale and tronchuda, a new technical questionnaire has been developed. This TQ is to be used for curly kale, palm kale and tronchuda. It may also be used for other kale types in case you request plant breeders’ rights. You find this new TQ on the website of the Board for plant varieties.
In the TQ reference is made to a draft UPOV guideline for kale. That guideline is for all types of Brassica oleracea, excluding cauliflower, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage (white, red, savoy) and kohlrabi. The TQ has a link to the latest version of this draft guideline. You may use that document for an explanation on the characteristics and example varieties. If you have any question when using the form or if you have remarks on the draft UPOV guideline, please, contact mr. Gerard van Hameren.
