Revised submission conditions courgette and various cabbage crops (modification)
Following our news item published in August, the submission conditions for courgette and various cabbage crops have been revised again. Important: the final submission date for the DUS sample for courgette, cauliflower, kale, savoy cabbage and kohlrabi has been postponed by two weeks.
Courgette (trailing and bush, non-trailing types)
Starting from the next trial season, DNA testing for courgette crops will take place prior to the standard trials. This allows us to better determine the reference varieties for the applications. For this reason, the submission date for the identiy sample is being brought forward by two months.
- Final closing date: 15 February
- Final submission date end sample: 1 March
White cabbage
A single submission date applies to all types of white cabbage, regardless the time of maturity. This submission date has not been changed.
- Final closing date: 1 January
- Final submission date end sample: 15 January
Cauliflower, curly kale, savoy cabbage and kohlrabi
We are aligning the DNA marker testing for cabbage crops more efficiently with the standard field trials, so that the results can be taken into account into the DUS testing. As a result, the submission dates for various cabbage crops are being brought forward.
- Closing date cauliflower (seed propagated, spring, summer, autumn and winter): 15 November
- Closing date cauliflower (seed propagated, overwintering and tropical), curly kale, savoy cabbage and kohlrabi: 15 April
- Submission date end sample cauliflower (seed propagated, spring, summer, autumn and winter): 1 December
- Submission date end sample cauliflower (seed propagated, overwintering and tropical), curly kale, savoy cabbage and kohlrabi: 1 May

This year prolongation of registration can be applied for varieties of vegetable and agricultural species which have been registered in 2018. This also applies to all vegetable varieties which have been registered in 1993 until 2003.

Harmonization of Technical Questionnaires (TQs)
The Board for plant varieties has been working with CPVO for some time on the harmonization of Technical Questionnaires (TQs). The objective is to make as many CPVO and the Board for plant varieties TQs as possible identical on a one-to-one basis. This harmonisation will make it easier for applicants to submit either a national application or a CPVO application, as the information can simply be copied from one application to the other. Recently, a number of additional TQs have been harmonized.
